Aerospace Mechanical Design Engineer (6+ months)

About the role

Belcan is seeking an Aerospace Mechanical Design Engineer for a 6‑month contract with the possibility of direct hire. The role focuses on supporting existing aerospace product lines, developing new composite‑based components, and ensuring technical compliance throughout the design lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical resolutions for existing products, including troubleshooting, MRB handling, compliance verification, and performance analysis.
• Design components using composite materials, covering cutting, kitting, ply definition, orientation, layup, and curing techniques.
• Advise on technical compliance for both new and existing aerospace products.
• Conduct functional analysis on emerging designs and generate 3D models for downstream 2D drafting.
• Lead sustainment engineering activities by gathering stakeholder feedback, defining problems, proposing solutions, and estimating completion dates.
• Collaborate with the ECS subject‑matter expert for knowledge transfer and execution of critical tasks.

Required profile

• Experience with composite material design and aerospace product development.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling and creation/review of engineering drawings.
• Ability to work with manufacturing feedback loops and produce MRB documentation.
• Strong analytical skills for functional, performance, and compliance analyses.

Required skills

• Creo (preferred) or SolidWorks with strong experience.
• 3D modeling of mechanical components.
• Composite material design – ply definition, layup documentation, and producibility reviews.
• Engineering drawing review and light creation.
• MRB and change documentation.
• Functional and performance analysis.
• Compliance verification.
