Advanced Practice Provider – Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine

About the role

The University of Miami UHealth Department of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine seeks an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join the Transplant Pulmonology program at Jackson Memorial Hospital. This full‑time position involves comprehensive patient assessment, collaboration with physicians, and coordination of care for lung and transplant patients.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct patient interviews, obtain medical histories, perform physical examinations, and interpret diagnostic studies.
• Write prescriptions, order laboratory tests, and manage medication regimens according to practice protocols.
• Assist physicians with medical procedures, triage patients, and document care in electronic health records.
• Initiate and support clinical research protocols, coordinating with research staff.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for patients and families.
• Participate in quality assurance, peer review, and discharge planning activities.
• Provide patient education and conduct follow‑up via clinical visits or telephone.

Required profile

• Licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with experience in pulmonary, critical care, or sleep medicine.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to recognize deviations from normal assessments.
• Experience with patient education, discharge planning, and follow‑up care.

Required skills

• Prescribing medications and blood products under protocol guidance.
• Ordering and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic tests.
• Clinical research coordination and protocol implementation.
