Adult Protective Services Case Manager 2

About the role

The Georgia Department of Human Services, Division of Aging Services, Adult Protective Services is seeking an Adult Protective Services Case Manager 2 to serve Calhoun and surrounding counties. The role involves investigating protective service reports, evaluating risk, and ensuring safety for vulnerable adults.

Key responsibilities

• Performs initial investigations of protective service reports for cases meeting APS criteria and determines appropriateness of intervention within a standard of promptness.
• Evaluates the level of risk to clients and takes appropriate action to ensure safety.
• Provides follow‑up, consultations and other applicable resources to stabilize situations and prevent further abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
• Initiates the legal process for guardianship as a last resort for the protection of incapacitated adults.
• Maintains required documentation and completes reports within standards of promptness.
• Maintains knowledge of current policies, laws, trends and developments in the field by attending training sessions and meetings.
• Performs other professional responsibilities as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or one year of experience at lower‑level Adult Protective Services CM 1 (or equivalent).
• Demonstrated ability to provide courteous, accessible, and knowledgeable service to internal and external customers.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others, treat others with dignity and respect, and deliver business results.
• Strong judgment, accountability, and commitment to public duty.
