Adjunct Faculty - Marriage and Family Therapy (Residential)

About the role

Abilene Christian University (ACU) is looking for an adjunct faculty member to teach Marriage and Family Therapy (Residential). ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ; all applicants must be professing Christians and willing to support the university's Christian mission and purpose while employed.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high-quality instruction, direction and support for students in the classroom, including classes of up to 25 students, possibly divided into sections for discussion and group activities.
• Give timely, constructive feedback on student work and hold at least two office hours per week, available by appointment for in-person or virtual meetings.
• Answer student questions about course material and academics outside class, enter final grades by deadline after consulting lead faculty or the program director, and alert them to student issues such as poor performance or plagiarism.
• Attend departmental and team meetings to help plan and develop the program and curriculum, and give feedback to the program director on improvements.
• Comply with ACU policies and procedures, complete program and faculty trainings, update credentials and records, and carry out other duties assigned by lead faculty or the program director.

Required profile

• At least 18 hours of graduate education in marriage and family therapy or a related field, with particular experience relevant to the courses taught.
• Commitment to the ACU mission and policies and to the integration of faith and learning.
• Strong written and oral communication, collaboration, organization and project management skills, and the ability to work under pressure and with students, faculty and staff.
• Ability to learn new software and learning management systems, and willingness to receive additional training and faculty mentoring.
