Adjunct ESL Faculty (Part‑Time)

About the role

The Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) seeks qualified part‑time adjunct faculty to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) courses. In this role you will deliver instruction to a diverse student body using face‑to‑face, remote, or online formats.

Key responsibilities

• Teach assigned ESL classes up to 12 credit hours per fall/spring semester and up to 8 credit hours in summer.
• Develop and maintain course syllabi, instructional materials, and assessment tools.
• Record grades, track student progress, and submit required reports.
• Adhere to NOVA policies, procedures, and professional ethics.
• Stay current in TESOL/ESL methodologies and instructional technology.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in TESOL, TESL, Applied Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, or a related field.
• Or a master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching field.
• Commitment to teaching excellence and ability to work collegially in a diverse urban community college.
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and oral/written communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with instructional technology used for classroom and online delivery.

What we offer

• Per‑credit‑hour compensation ranging from $935 to $1,249 based on rank.
