Adjudicator (Disability Benefits) – State of Georgia

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking qualified Adjudicators to evaluate Social Security Disability and Supplemental Security Income claims. Working under supervision, you will gather and assess evidence, make determinations, and prepare written decisions that impact the lives of Georgia residents.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyze medical, vocational, and other evidence to decide on disability benefit eligibility.
• Prepare detailed written analyses and official notices for claimants and the Social Security Administration.
• Maintain a caseload of initial disability and SSI claims, ensuring timely resolution.
• Protect confidential personal and medical information in compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Identify additional medical or psychological examinations needed and coordinate funding for such evidence.
• Draft residual functional capacity assessments based on the severity of impairments.
• Consult with physicians, psychologists, vocational experts, and other professionals on complex cases.
• Communicate with claimants, families, legal representatives, and employers as required.

Required profile

• Ability to work under supervision while exercising independent judgment on case decisions.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret medical and vocational information against Social Security regulations.
• Excellent written communication for preparing comprehensive case analyses and notices.
• Commitment to safeguarding sensitive personal data.
• Experience handling disability or SSI claims is preferred but not required.
