Acute Care Physical Therapy Resident

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a full‑time Acute Care Physical Therapy Resident to join its team in the Jefferson – New Orleans region. The resident will plan, organize, and deliver physical therapy treatment programs based on patient evaluations, medical referrals, and clinical judgment while receiving comprehensive didactic and clinical training.

Key responsibilities

• Performs age‑ and diagnosis‑appropriate evaluations and treatment.
• Maintains patient records in accordance with documentation standards, policies, and procedures.
• Participates in the education and training of physical therapy students.
• Conducts research, collects data, writes professional papers, and pursues continuing education.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in physical therapy (Doctorate preferred).
• Current physical therapy license in the state of practice or eligibility for licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Critical thinking, strong knowledge of the human movement system, and effective verbal and written communication skills.
