Accounting Technician – Full‑Time

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking an Accounting Technician to support the Griffin campus of Southern Crescent Technical College. This full‑time position involves handling student payments, billing, and routine clerical duties within a government environment.

Key responsibilities

• Receive cash, checks, and money orders from students and post receipts to accounting records.
• Prepare and mail account statements and other routine communications.
• Obtain billing information from external agencies and perform billing functions.
• Prepare bank deposits and maintain related files and records.
• Assist with new student registration sessions and perform general clerical duties such as typing and answering phones.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of experience in bookkeeping or accounting clerical work.
• Preferred: associate’s degree in accounting or a related business field.
• Must be able to pass a background investigation and motor‑vehicle screening.

Required skills

• Experience with BANNER – Accounts Receivable system.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and student accounts management.
• Proficiency with standard computer and job‑related software applications.
