Accounting Assistant

About the role

The United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF) is seeking an Accounting Assistant to join its Accounts Section in New York. The role supports the monitoring of pension contributions, benefit over‑payments, and bank reconciliations across multiple currencies, ensuring accurate financial reporting for more than 90,000 beneficiaries worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Record and reconcile complex accounting transactions, including multi‑currency bank accounts.
• Set up and monitor receivables for retirees and beneficiaries.
• Assist in recovering pension over‑payments and resolving contribution discrepancies.
• Update participant records and prepare write‑off memoranda.
• Respond to queries from staff, retirees, and external parties.
• Support the preparation of data presentations, reports, and informational materials such as web pages or brochures.
• Perform additional duties as required by the Accountant and Deputy Chief of Accounts.

Required profile

• Knowledge of UN financial rules, regulations, and accounting policies.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and interpret diverse data sets.
• Strong analytical skills for identifying and resolving data discrepancies.
