Account Director - Travel & Hospitality

About the role

PURPLE is seeking a senior‑level Account Director to lead luxury travel and hospitality accounts from its New York office. The role combines strategic planning, media and influencer outreach, and mentorship of junior staff within a fast‑paced global PR agency.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute integrated media, event and influencer campaigns for hotel openings, restaurant launches and other hospitality initiatives.
• Lead client programs from strategy through execution, managing budgets and ensuring high‑quality media coverage.
• Mentor and manage junior team members, fostering their professional growth and day‑to‑day operational efficiency.
• Collaborate across agency divisions to leverage network‑wide expertise and deliver seamless press, social, and cultural programming.
• Identify and pitch new business opportunities, creating proposals and presenting to prospective clients.

Required profile

• 6+ years of travel/hospitality PR experience at an agency, with a proven record of successful hotel and restaurant launches.
• Strong relationships with top‑tier consumer and trade media in the luxury market.
• Demonstrated ability to lead integrated communications campaigns across lifestyle, travel, fashion and business media.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in public speaking and presentations.
• Proactive, team‑oriented mindset and experience managing and motivating a team.
