About the role

The CW Academic Visitor program offers current medical students a unique opportunity to observe and learn within the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Participants will gain hands‑on exposure to anesthesia practice by shadowing faculty anesthesiologists and the broader anesthesia care team.

Key responsibilities

  • Shadow faculty anesthesiologists during clinical cases and procedures.
  • Observe the work of anesthesia nurses, CRNAs, and other care team members.
  • Attend departmental educational sessions, rounds, and case discussions.
  • Document observations and reflect on clinical experiences as required.

Required profile

  • Enrolled as a current medical student in an accredited program.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States on the first day of the appointment.
  • Compliance with university vaccination policies or approved exemptions.

Required skills

  • No specific technical skills are required; a strong interest in anesthesiology and willingness to learn are essential.
