Academic & Event Technology Specialist I

About the role

Georgetown University seeks an Academic & Event Technology Specialist I to provide expert technical support for classroom, lab, conference room, and lecture hall environments. The specialist will ensure reliable, secure, and functional AV and computer systems that enable seamless teaching, learning, and event experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct technical support for Windows and macOS computers, including hardware, software, and OS issues.
• Configure, deploy, and maintain academic and presentation software suites.
• Install, integrate, and support complex AV systems in classrooms, conference rooms, and large lecture halls.
• Administer specialized classroom SaaS applications, managing configurations, user access, and vendor relationships.
• Troubleshoot interactions between computers, software, control systems, and integrated AV equipment.
• Manage video‑conferencing and lecture‑capture technologies such as Zoom Rooms and Panopto.
• Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, system diagrams, and signal flow charts.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of hands‑on experience supporting integrated academic technology, professional AV systems, or complex enterprise endpoints.
• Professional certification in endpoint management (e.g., Apple Certified Support Professional, Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator) or AV (e.g., CTS, Extron, Crestron, Biamp).
