About the role
The Academic Advisor II will serve as a primary point of contact for undergraduate students within the Dean’s Office at Texas A&M AgriLife Research. Working with minimal supervision, the advisor will help students set realistic academic goals, navigate university policies, and access resources that promote retention and success.
Key responsibilities
- Provide personalized academic advising, including course selection, registration, add/drop, withdrawals, and curriculum change submissions.
- Develop and deliver student success and retention initiatives through outreach, progress monitoring, and referrals to campus support services.
- Plan and coordinate advising events, orientation sessions, and academic campaigns to engage new and continuing students.
- Maintain up‑to‑date advising records, notes, and documentation in compliance with university standards.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
- At least two years of experience in academic advising or a closely related field.
- Familiarity with NACADA core values and academic advising models.
- Strong ability to communicate confidentially and ethically with a diverse student population.
