Academic Advisor I – Student Success

About the role

We are seeking an Academic Advisor I to drive engagement and empower undergraduate students to achieve their academic and career goals. The advisor will play a vital role in maximizing student retention by providing guidance on program requirements, registration processes, and academic planning.

Key responsibilities

• Advise students on course selection, registration, add/drop, withdrawals, and curriculum changes while clarifying university policies and program requirements.
• Deliver student‑success and retention strategies through proactive outreach, monitoring academic progress, and referring students to campus resources such as the Academic Success Center and Career Center.
• Maintain accurate advising records, document student interactions, and contribute to departmental advising events and campaigns.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (no specific field required).
• Ability to initiate, build, and maintain effective relationships with students and colleagues.
• Strong communication, active listening, and organizational skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with word‑processing software.
• Proficiency with spreadsheet applications.
• Experience using database applications for record‑keeping.
