Academic Advisor I

About the role

The Academic Advisor I supports undergraduate students in achieving their academic and career objectives. Working within the Dean's Office Staff, the advisor builds relationships, clarifies program requirements, and helps retain students across a range of science majors.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with students to set realistic educational goals and explore majors, minors, and career pathways.
• Guide students through academic processes such as registration, add/drop, withdrawals, and curriculum changes.
• Review academic records, advise on course selection, and provide input on probation decisions.
• Maintain accurate student contact notes and advising records.
• Implement outreach strategies (in‑person and online) to engage and retain the student population.

Required profile

• Strong ability to communicate academic policies and program requirements.
• Experience advising students in science‑related programs (e.g., biochemistry, genetics, animal science).
• Detail‑oriented with the capacity to keep up‑to‑date records.
