Welder II – $3,000 Sign‑On Bonus

About the role

The Welder II will support marine and shipboard operations for Oceaneering’s Marine Services Division in Chesapeake, VA. The position involves performing high‑consequence welding tasks in industrial and shipbuilding environments, with potential overtime and up to 75% travel.

Key responsibilities

• Perform welding using TIG (GTAW), Stick (SMAW), MIG (GMAW), and Flux‑Cored (FCAW) processes.
• Interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings to fabricate and repair structural and piping components.
• Select appropriate materials, joint configurations, and welding parameters for each job.
• Weld in confined spaces and elevated positions while meeting visual, dimensional, and UT/RT inspection requirements.
• Maintain safety, quality, and housekeeping standards and mentor junior welders.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED and at least two years of industrial welding experience, preferably in shipbuilding.
• Proficiency in TIG, Stick, MIG, and/or Flux‑Cored welding.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• U.S. citizenship (no dual citizenship) and ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
