Vice President, Software Engineering

About the role

Mastercard Send powers near‑real‑time money movement for billions of cards, bank and digital accounts worldwide. We are looking for a Vice President of Software Engineering to lead strategy, architecture, delivery and operation of the Send engineering organization.

Key responsibilities

• Define and govern architecture, design standards and engineering practices for scalable, secure, maintainable software solutions.
• Set technical direction for complex distributed systems and ensure alignment with business objectives.
• Drive engineering excellence across design, development, testing, deployment and operational readiness.
• Promote secure software development, code quality, system resilience and technology modernization.
• Champion a quality‑first culture with robust testing, automation and validation.
• Establish standards for unit, functional and integration testing and improve platform observability and reliability.
• Shape engineering strategies that support product roadmaps and customer needs.
• Translate business priorities into technology initiatives and evaluate emerging technologies.
• Build, lead and develop diverse, high‑performing engineering teams and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Ensure software solutions meet security, privacy, risk and regulatory requirements and oversee audit and compliance participation.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in software architecture, design and development of large‑scale, business‑critical platforms, with a strong focus on scalability, reliability and security.
• Proven ability to lead and develop engineering leaders and high‑performing teams, align engineering strategy with business goals, and manage complex delivery programs.
