Traffic Engineer – MOT & Signing (Professional Engineer)

About the role

We are looking for a mid‑level Traffic Engineer with a Professional Engineer (PE) license to lead maintenance of traffic (MOT), signing and pavement marking design. The role supports planning, design and delivery of transportation projects, improving safety and mobility for communities.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze, design and prepare plan sheets for signing, striping and MOT/traffic control on interstates, freeways, highways, interchanges and intersections.
• Produce clear studies, technical reports, construction plans, specifications and cost estimates with minimal oversight.
• Serve as a technical specialist on small to mid‑scale projects and coordinate traffic discussions with project teams, clients and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with project managers, design engineers, technicians and support staff to deliver transportation projects.
• Assist in managing workloads, mentoring traffic group staff and sharing resources across teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
• 4–8 years of traffic engineering design experience, focusing on signing and MOT.
• Knowledge of local, regional, state and federal design criteria and DOT plan preparation procedures.
• Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
