Technical Sales Representative – Surface Treatment Chemicals

About the role

We are seeking a Technical Sales Representative to promote BASF/Chemetall’s surface treatment chemicals in the Allentown and Scranton, PA region. The role combines sales, technical support and territory management to ensure customers receive optimal product performance and value.

Key responsibilities

• Contact established and prospective customers within the assigned territory to sell surface treatment chemicals.
• Understand each account’s operations and tailor sales presentations and proposals to specific needs.
• Manage territory profitability by reviewing margins, selecting appropriate products and setting optimal pricing.
• Plan and execute a weekly itinerary to ensure balanced coverage of industry sectors and geographic areas.
• Provide technical product information, answer usage questions and deliver pricing quotes.
• Achieve sales targets by acquiring new customers, expanding business with existing accounts and renewing orders.
• Build and maintain strong business relationships with customers.
• Travel up to 60 % of the time; company car, laptop and phone provided.

Required profile

• Experience in technical or industrial chemical sales.
• Ability to travel extensively and service customers on‑site.
• Strong understanding of customers’ business processes and ability to align solutions.
• Proactive approach to territory planning and margin management.

Required skills

• Knowledge of surface treatment chemicals and related technologies.
