Supplier Quality Engineer – Hybrid (Torrance, CA)

About the role

Moog is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to join its Military Aircraft Group in Torrance, CA. The role operates on a hybrid schedule (9/80) and focuses on ensuring that purchased aerospace parts meet the highest quality and reliability standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, select, and monitor suppliers throughout the lifecycle, from initial qualification to ongoing performance.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the supply base to mitigate risk and enhance on‑time, defect‑free delivery.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and manufacturing teams to develop and maintain robust quality systems.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis, implement corrective and preventive actions, and ensure compliance with aerospace standards such as AS9100.
• Prepare and manage quality documentation including PPAP, Control Plans, and FMEA reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in supplier quality or quality assurance within aerospace or a similarly regulated industry.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and proactive attitude toward quality issues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and in cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Quality tools and methodologies: 8D, 5 Why, FMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, MSA, SPC, APQP.
• Standards: AS9100, GD&T, inspection methods.
• Root‑cause analysis and CAPA implementation.
• Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt) and lean manufacturing principles.
