Structural Engineer – Bridge and Highway Projects

About the role

The Mannik & Smith Group (MSG) is seeking a full‑time Structural Engineer to own bridge and highway structure projects from concept through final design. This role is ideal for engineers passionate about transportation infrastructure, mentoring junior staff, and making a tangible impact on communities.

Key responsibilities

• Design and analyze highway structures and bridges, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with all standards.
• Conduct field inspections of transportation structures and bridges to assess condition and provide technical recommendations.
• Prepare engineering deliverables—including reports, plans, specifications, estimates (PS&E), and calculations—while monitoring work for code adherence.
• Lead projects or disciplines as project engineer or bridge lead, mentoring junior engineers and technicians.
• Collaborate with survey, geotechnical, and transportation teams to deliver integrated solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related field).
• 8+ years of structural engineering experience, including bridge work; PE required.
• Experience with bridge design and analysis; ODOT experience a plus.
• Proficiency in STAAD‑Pro, MDX, Leap Bridge Designer; Midas Civil experience a plus.
• Knowledge of Bridge and Culvert Manual, AASHTO, AISC, ACI, IBC, and ASCE 7 specifications.
