Standardization Pilot – UAV Operations

About the role

Shield AI is seeking an elite former military pilot to serve as a Standardization Pilot, driving best practices for flight operations of its V‑BAT unmanned aircraft. You will work cross‑functionally with engineering, training, and operations teams to ensure safe, standardized, and high‑quality UAV missions.

Key responsibilities

• Execute V‑BAT flight operations following established SOPs and FAA regulations.
• Serve as a subject‑matter expert, contributing to the development and continuous improvement of SOPs, checklists, and training materials.
• Conduct pre‑flight, in‑flight, and post‑flight procedures with strict safety and quality standards.
• Support pilot training and evaluation to maintain operational consistency.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations to identify gaps and drive process improvements.
• Participate in test events, demonstrations, and customer‑facing operations as required.

Required profile

• Current or prior UAS pilot experience (Group 3–5 preferred) or equivalent military aviation background.
• Strong understanding of aviation principles, flight safety, and mission planning.
• Experience operating in highly procedural environments and ability to enforce strict protocols.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and willingness to travel for field support.

Required skills

• UAS pilot certification (Group 3–5 or equivalent).
• Familiarity with V‑BAT or similar UAV platforms.
• Knowledge of FAA Part 107 and COA operational requirements.
