Staff Software Engineer, Backend (Manufacturing)

About the role

The Staff Software Engineer will architect and develop robust manufacturing applications that connect shop‑floor equipment with enterprise systems, ensuring real‑time data flow and intelligent production insights.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and guide architectural decisions for a team of engineers.
• Design and architect scalable backend systems for equipment integration.
• Mentor and coach engineers, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
• Tackle complex technical challenges and deliver innovative manufacturing solutions.
• Champion code quality, conduct reviews, and ensure testable, well‑documented code.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in backend services.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Own projects from conception through successful delivery.

Required profile

• 10+ years of professional software development experience, focused on backend development.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience with industrial protocols and integration of factory equipment.

Required skills

• Golang (preferred), Node.js, Python, C, C++.
• Industrial communication protocols: CIP, Modbus, MQTT, OPC UA.
• Experience with PLCs, robot controllers, and embedded firmware development.
• Design of RESTful APIs and gRPC services, including documentation and versioning.
• Message queues and stream processing: NATS, Kafka, RabbitMQ.
• Security best practices for backend and industrial environments.
• SQL and NoSQL database expertise.
• CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, monitoring tools.
• Containerization and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes.
• Edge computing platforms.
