Job description
About the role
ALSO is building vertically integrated electric vehicles and needs a senior engineer to lead firmware architecture for propulsion and battery systems. You will own end‑to‑end design, development, and testing of embedded software that powers our vehicle platforms.
Key responsibilities
- Lead architectural discussions for hardware abstraction layers, peripheral drivers, and board support packages across multiple MCU families.
- Configure, integrate, and optimize real‑time operating systems, making decisions on OS selection, task architecture, and resource management.
- Design reusable frameworks for telemetry, OTA firmware updates, and health‑monitoring across the product line.
- Contribute to Bazel‑based build infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines to ensure reproducible, fast builds.
- Define coding standards, driver interfaces, and platform APIs while guiding MCU selection, memory management, and peripheral allocation.
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, test, and other firmware teams to deliver robust, scalable software for ECUs.
- Support vehicle integration, feature implementation, debugging, and root‑cause analysis for powertrain and battery safety.
Required profile
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of firmware development experience, preferably in safety‑critical, time‑sensitive, resource‑constrained environments.
- Prior experience as a software architect with a strong understanding of embedded system trade‑offs.
Required skills
- Firmware development (C/C++)
- Real‑time operating systems (RTOS) integration and optimization
- Hardware abstraction layers and peripheral driver design
- Board support packages for multiple MCU families
