Staff Data Engineer

About the role

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies are building a trusted enterprise data and AI platform that unifies information across People, Finance, Privacy, and Legal. As a Staff Data Engineer you will provide technical leadership, design scalable data products, and ensure AI‑generated insights are accurate, explainable, and secure.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable ELT pipelines and semantic models using dbt, SQL, and Python on Databricks.
• Own the full data lifecycle—including ingestion, transformation, governance, certification, quality, observability, and lineage—to deliver enterprise‑grade certified datasets.
• Architect and contribute to a unified, React‑based executive analytics portal that replaces fragmented dashboards with a centralized, application‑driven experience.
• Develop conversational AI agents that surface enterprise data through natural‑language interfaces.
• Collaborate with senior leaders and domain experts to translate ambiguous business questions into durable data products.

Required profile

• Proven technical leadership in building enterprise data platforms.
• Hands‑on experience with ELT pipelines, data modeling, and data governance.
• Ability to work across multiple business domains and influence engineering culture.
