Staff AI Platform Engineer – Agent & Retrieval Infrastructure

About the role

We are seeking a Staff AI Platform Engineer to lead the design and implementation of our AI agent and retrieval infrastructure. Based in Brooklyn, you will own the end‑to‑end architecture that powers AI agents on Amazon Bedrock, supporting both internal operations and our ocean‑data platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement the Amazon Bedrock integration, including agent orchestration, action groups, backend APIs, and cross‑environment deployment.
• Own the retrieval data plane, managing ingestion, chunking, embedding, and storage in Amazon OpenSearch Serverless while optimizing index design, cost, and capacity.
• Extend and build data pipelines for internal knowledge bases, geospatial ocean data, and customer platforms.
• Define and enforce security models, implementing Bedrock Guardrails, VPC/PrivateLink boundaries, least‑privilege IAM policies, and comprehensive audit trails.
• Collaborate with transport and storage teams to ensure data freshness and retrieval requirements are met.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing large‑scale AI infrastructure and data pipelines.
• Strong background in cloud security and access control, especially within AWS environments.
• Ability to work across multiple engineering teams and drive architectural decisions.
