Sr. Staff Hardware Systems Architect - Infotainment/Skunkworks

About the role

Join a joint venture between Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies to shape the next generation of electric vehicles. As a Senior Staff Hardware Systems Architect you will lead the definition of subsystem and module architectures within the vehicle’s low‑voltage electrical system, focusing on infotainment, telematics, networking, camera, and security domains.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with hardware architecture, design, and software teams to translate product features into technical requirements and clear subsystem architectures.
• Model system‑level trade‑offs for distributed compute, networking, power efficiency, latency, and scalability.
• Establish vendor relationships to map current and future hardware platforms and build a scalable infotainment roadmap.
• Guide prototype development and proof‑of‑concept activities for next‑gen technologies.
• Partner with performance engineers to create validation plans, identify bottlenecks, and ensure designs meet system performance criteria.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 10+ years of hands‑on experience in automotive, aerospace, or high‑performance consumer hardware.
• Strong familiarity with automotive high‑compute hardware and low‑voltage electrical systems.
