About the role
The Sr. Hydrographic Technician leads the safe and efficient operation of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV) and associated geophysical and geotechnical equipment for offshore projects in the Gulf of Mexico and other remote locations. The role includes maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of all electronic, electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems, as well as inventory management and compliance with safety standards.
Key responsibilities
- Lead operation of AUVs and related geophysical/geotechnical equipment in offshore and global locations.
- Perform maintenance, repair, calibration and troubleshooting of electronic, electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems, including cameras, sonars, manipulators, LARS and complex subsea tooling.
- Manage subsea navigation instruments such as magnetic compass, gyro, transducer, altimeter and conduct hydrographic survey data collection and analysis.
- Maintain parts and supplies inventory for all equipment and ensure corrosion control and housekeeping procedures.
Required profile
- 5‑8 years of experience in the survey or geoscience industry as a Survey Professional.
- Valid TWIC card and ability to obtain a passport and any required offshore work permits.
- Willingness to work outdoors and indoors, day or night, on moving and vibrating equipment in high humidity, noise and dust environments.
Required skills
- Operation of AUVs and geophysical/geotechnical survey equipment.
- Maintenance and repair of electronic, hydraulic and mechanical systems, including calibration and alignment.
- Proficiency with cameras, acoustic positioning systems, sonars, manipulators, LARS and subsea navigation instruments.
