Software Validation and Automation Lead (Remote)

About the role

VetsEZ is looking for a Software Validation and Automation Lead to drive quality assurance for a Department of Veterans Affairs initiative that removes Social Security Numbers from critical VistA applications. The role is fully remote and will coordinate testing across multiple healthcare workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain test strategies, plans and standards for functional, integration, regression, security and User Acceptance Testing.
• Lead a team of QA analysts through test design, execution, defect management and release validation.
• Develop and manage test cases covering SSN removal, enterprise identifiers, workflow and UI changes, reports, audit records and interfaces.
• Conduct defect triage, prioritisation, retesting and closure while monitoring quality risks.
• Support release‑readiness reviews, ensure traceability between requirements, test cases and defects, and meet privacy, PII/PHI and NIST security requirements.
• Coordinate UAT with clinical, administrative and government stakeholders and participate in Agile ceremonies.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading QA activities for complex software systems, preferably in healthcare or government environments.
• Strong understanding of privacy, security and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, PII/PHI).
• Ability to mentor and guide QA analysts and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills to report risks and status to leadership.
