Software Engineer - Machine Learning Platform

About the role

As a Backend Engineer on the Machine Learning Platform team, you will build and maintain the core systems that power Frontera’s AI and ML capabilities. You will design scalable pipelines for ingesting, transforming, and serving large‑scale datasets, enabling rapid experimentation and long‑term scalability for our pediatric behavioral health platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance, secure backend services and APIs.
• Build and optimise data pipelines for large video and training datasets.
• Own and evolve the foundational data model that underpins the entire platform.
• Balance rapid MVP/POC delivery with robust, production‑grade backend foundations.
• Integrate third‑party tools and services to extend platform functionality.
• Collaborate closely with ML scientists, data engineers, product engineers, and clinicians.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience as a Backend Engineer.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or similar languages.
• Strong knowledge of API development, relational and NoSQL database design.
• Experience building scalable data pipelines and orchestration workflows.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
