Software Engineer – AI Applications

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer to build the AI‑driven backend of TrueMeter’s AI Energy Agent. The role is hybrid in the San Francisco Bay Area, reporting directly to the co‑founder/CTO and working in a fast‑moving seed‑stage startup.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement micro‑services in Python (and optionally TypeScript) that connect large‑language‑model agents with energy data APIs.
• Integrate with dozens of utility provider portals and public data sources, building reliable connectors and data pipelines.
• Develop infrastructure for AI agents to read, reason and act autonomously across the data stack.
• Ensure high‑performance, low‑latency operation of 24/7 services, including observability, logging and CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with product, customer‑success and sales teams to translate real‑world problems into clean technical solutions.

Required profile

• 1+ year of experience building production back‑ends or full‑stack systems.
• Comfortable working in an early‑stage, fast‑changing environment.
• Strong communication skills to explain complex systems to technical and business audiences.
• Self‑starter who can scope, execute and deliver features without extensive hand‑holding.
