Skilled Tradesman – Plumber

About the role

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is seeking a Skilled Tradesman – Plumber to perform a variety of plumbing tasks across campus facilities. This full‑time, on‑site position supports the university’s maintenance operations and ensures all plumbing systems function safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, sketches, and work orders to determine plumbing requirements.
• Cut, thread, clean, sand, and solder copper pipe.
• Install and set basic plumbing fixtures such as urinals, commodes, sinks, bathtubs, and showers.
• Operate cable and jet water sewer cleaning machines.
• Clean, weld, and repair PVC pipe.
• Bore holes in wood, concrete, and steel for pipe installation.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Arkansas Journeyman Plumber’s License (ACA 17‑38‑301).
• At least five years of experience as a Journeyman Plumber or equivalent specialty certifications.
• Valid driver’s license.

Required skills

• Blueprint and technical drawing interpretation.
• Pipe cutting, threading, and soldering.
• Installation of plumbing fixtures.
• Operation of sewer cleaning equipment.
• PVC pipe welding and repair.
• Hole boring in various construction materials.
