Skilled Trades Helper

About the role

The Skilled Trades Helper supports the Maintenance Operations team by assisting in a variety of skilled‑trade tasks across the campus. Working under supervision, the helper gains hands‑on experience in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting while ensuring facilities remain safe and functional.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with installation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Support carpentry tasks, including framing, trim work, and general repairs.
• Help painters, plasterers, and welders prepare surfaces for finishing.
• Inspect and replace non‑working lights, ballasts, transformers, fuses, and switches in hallways and public areas.
• Perform preventive maintenance on boilers, air compressors, and related equipment.
• Install and route computer cable lines as needed.

Required profile

• Reliable, regular attendance with a non‑disruptive work ethic.
• Ability to work safely under supervision and follow trade codes and specifications.
• Willingness to learn and develop skills across multiple trades.

• Basic HVAC system knowledge.
