About the role
The Sewer / Soft Goods Technician II performs sewing and fabrication operations on aerospace soft‑goods components. The role requires precise machine set‑ups, material handling, and adherence to detailed engineering drawings while working in an indoor, climate‑controlled environment.
Key responsibilities
- Set up and adjust industrial or commercial sewing machines for various materials, including tension control.
- Execute sewing operations, cementing, cutting, and minor assembly tasks by machine and hand as required.
- Handle chemicals such as adhesives and solvents and work with specialty fabrics like fiberglass and ceramic.
- Interpret and follow written and verbal instructions, patterns, and engineering drawings.
Required profile
- Experience in an aerospace or industrial soft‑goods lab environment with a focus on design and fabrication.
- Ability to pass a sewing competency test during interview.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency and eligibility for a government background investigation.
- Demonstrated teamwork skills.
Required skills
- Operation of industrial/commercial sewing machines, heat sealers, rivet presses, power tools and hand tools.
- Proficiency with adhesives, solvents, and specialty fabrics (fiberglass, ceramic).
- Reading and creating fabrication drawings, patterns, and mock‑ups.
- Cementing, fabric cutting, and minor assembly techniques.
