Service Technician – Student Living Property

About the role
The Service Technician supports the physical upkeep of The Varsity student living community, ensuring buildings, grounds, amenities, and common areas meet Greystar’s standards for safety, appearance, and functionality. This onsite position handles resident service requests, preventative maintenance, and prepares vacant units for new occupants.
Key responsibilities
- Complete work orders from resident requests and perform preventative maintenance, diagnosing issues and repairing according to policies, safety standards, and code requirements.
- Execute the “make‑ready” process for vacant apartments, including inspections, punch‑list creation, vendor coordination, and final quality checks.
- Maintain inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment, tracking usage and notifying supervisors of re‑order needs.
- Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of grounds, breezeways, pool areas, and signage, including pressure‑washing and painting as needed.
- Inspect contractor and vendor work to verify compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Participate in safety meetings, complete OSHA‑related training, and promptly report accidents or incidents.
Required profile
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum two years of experience in property or building maintenance or a related trade.
- Proactive, self‑motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
Required skills
- EPA refrigerant recycling certifications (Type I, Type II, or Universal).
- Relevant HVAC certification or licensing as required by state/local jurisdiction.
- Valid driver’s license (required for operating a golf cart on larger properties).
- Proficiency with internet, word processing, spreadsheet, and database management programs for reporting and documentation.
