rivianvw.tech · Palo Alto
Job description
About the role
Join the RVTech team to develop automated test systems for high‑compute automotive ECUs, including infotainment head units, cockpit domain controllers, and Level 3+ ADAS platforms. You will design and implement test equipment that validates complex silicon, high‑speed interfaces, and thermal behavior in both reliability labs and high‑volume production.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the creation of automated test solutions from requirements through deployment at reliability labs and contract manufacturers.
- Design and build test hardware for high‑speed interfaces such as GMSL, FPD‑Link, USB, PCIe, Automotive Ethernet, LVDS, eDP, HDMI, and debug ports.
- Develop peripheral emulation boards to inject video streams, capture display outputs, and emulate audio loads.
- Implement power‑and‑thermal characterization, including multi‑rail sequencing, inrush, throttling, and heatsink verification.
- Own boot, flash, and secure provisioning flows, handling eMMC/UFS/NVMe programming and key injection.
- Write robust Python test sequences using the standard automation framework and AI coding assistants.
- Integrate firmware, hardware, and software for DUT bring‑up, production test modes, and diagnostic services.
- Build reliability‑lab test suites (HALT/HASS, thermal cycling, vibration, burn‑in) and high‑volume manufacturing solutions with optimized cycle time.
Required profile
- B.S./M.S. in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years designing automated test equipment for compute‑class or high‑speed digital products.
- Hands‑on experience with infotainment, cockpit, or ADAS compute platforms.
- Proven work in automotive, consumer electronics, semiconductor, or aerospace environments.
Required skills
- Python programming and test automation.
- Linux/Android/QNX command‑line proficiency, shell scripting, ADB, and driver debugging.
- High‑speed serial interface knowledge: GMSL, FPD‑Link, USB, PCIe, Automotive Ethernet, LVDS, eDP, HDMI.
- Test instrumentation: programmable power supplies, electronic loads, precision DMMs, high‑bandwidth oscilloscopes, protocol/bus analyzers, audio analyzers, serdes evaluation hardware, relay/switch matrices, DAQ systems.
- Automotive communication protocols: CAN, CAN‑FD, DoIP, LIN, UDS, XCP.
- Power and thermal measurement techniques for multi‑rail systems.
- C/C++ firmware development experience (optional but beneficial).
