Senior Software Engineer - Display/Touch Infotainment Platform

About the role

The Infotainment Platform team at Rivian Volkswagen Technologies is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and optimise the display and touch subsystems of the next‑generation Android‑based in‑vehicle experience. You will work across the full software stack, from low‑level hardware drivers to OS frameworks, ensuring a seamless and highly responsive user interface for future electric vehicles.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, integrate and maintain display drivers and compositor frameworks such as DRM/KMS, SurfaceFlinger, Wayland and OpenWFD for multi‑display automotive topologies.
• Design and integrate drivers and middleware for touch panels (capacitive, resistive) and physical infotainment buttons, handling gesture recognition, multi‑touch coordination and noise filtering.
• Optimise the complete glass‑to‑glass pipeline to improve frame rates, colour accuracy, latency and overall visual quality.
• Collaborate with hardware vendors and SoC partners to bring up new display panels (LCD, OLED) and input interfaces via MIPI DSI, I2C, SPI and SerDes links.
• Perform system‑level debugging of display and input issues using profilers, gdb, JTAG and logic analyzers.
• Implement advanced features such as dynamic backlight control, power sequencing, resolution switching and multi‑display synchronisation.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a software engineer working on automotive or embedded display and input systems.
• Strong knowledge of low‑level driver development and hardware bring‑up.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with hardware, firmware and OS teams.
