Senior Roadway Project Manager (PE)

About the role

DRMP is looking for an experienced Senior Roadway Project Manager (PE) to lead and grow its roadway practice across North Carolina. The role is based in our Charlotte office, with collaboration across Raleigh, and focuses on delivering high‑quality roadway projects for NCDOT, counties, cities and other transportation agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain responsibility for multiple roadway projects from concept through construction.
• Develop and execute marketing strategies, including letters of response and technical proposals, to expand the roadway discipline.
• Mentor and guide junior staff, providing technical direction and training.
• Ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and meet client expectations.
• Lead internal training programs and regularly review content quality for compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• 10‑15+ years of progressive engineering experience, primarily in roadway design and project delivery.
• Proven experience managing NCDOT or municipal transportation projects in North Carolina.
• Strong budgeting, scheduling, client interaction, and staff management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with a valid driver’s license.
