Senior Roadway Design Engineer – Transportation Projects

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Roadway Design Engineer to join our Transportation team in Reno. The role involves leading the design of interstates, freeways, highways and related infrastructure while delivering high‑quality technical documentation for our clients.

Key responsibilities

• Design and analyze interstates, freeways, highways, interchanges, urban and rural roadways, and trails.
• Prepare clear studies, technical reports, construction plans, specifications and cost estimates.
• Support project managers with client relations, stakeholder management and sub‑consultant coordination.
• Interface with state and local agencies, conduct meetings with project stakeholders and share resources across offices.
• Lead roadway design teams, assist in proposal preparation and deliver oral presentations.
• Take ownership of projects from concept through construction documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
• 8–15+ years of professional experience in roadway design.
• Proven experience with transportation agencies and familiarity with local, regional, state and federal design criteria.
• Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal and customer‑service skills.
• Ability to manage technical staff, multitask across multiple projects and meet deadlines and budgets.
