Senior Principal R&D Project Manager – Shockwave Medical

About the role

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Senior Principal R&D Project Manager to lead product development and commercialization of Shockwave Medical’s intravascular lithotripsy technology. The role drives cross‑functional projects from concept through market release, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate all cross‑functional activities throughout the product development lifecycle, adhering to Design Control and new product development processes.
• Develop project strategy, vision, and maintain organizational alignment across multiple parallel projects.
• Oversee feasibility, development, and market release phases, publishing dashboards and risk reports for the portfolio.
• Mentor junior project managers and provide detailed status updates to senior leadership.

Required profile

• BS/BA in science, engineering or business administration, or equivalent experience.
• 12+ years in medical devices with at least 7 years of project management experience.
• Strong ability to influence across functions and navigate complex, ambiguous environments.

Required skills

• Project planning, risk management, and execution.
• Design Control principles and Quality System Regulations (21 CFR 820, ISO 13485, MDR).
• Project Management certification or training (preferred).

What we offer

• Base salary range $134,000 – $231,150 per year.
