Senior Permitting & Plan Review Expert

About the role

Brain Co. is seeking a Senior Permitting & Plan Review Expert to join its AI‑native operating system team. In this full‑time position you will act as the domain authority on permitting, code interpretation, and plan review, helping engineering, product, design, and go‑to‑market teams build accurate, compliant solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Answer nuanced permitting and building‑code questions from cross‑functional teams.
• Review permit applications, plan sets, submittals, and AI‑generated outputs for accuracy, completeness, and ambiguity.
• Define approval, rejection, or revision criteria that reflect real‑world reviewer decisions.
• Label and curate data to train and evaluate machine‑learning models.
• Synthesize jurisdiction‑specific requirements, local amendments, and reviewer practices into internal guidance.
• Create rubrics, checklists, documentation, and benchmark examples for internal use.
• Support customer conversations, product discovery, onboarding, or GTM activities as a subject‑matter expert when needed.

Required profile

• ICC Certified Plans Examiner (CPE) credential.
• 5+ years of hands‑on plan review, code consulting, permitting, or building‑official experience across multiple jurisdictions.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse municipal, state, and private‑provider environments.
• Fluency with the International Building Code (IBC), International Residential Code (IRC), and at least one state building‑code overlay.
