Senior Municipal Engineer

About the role

You will play a key role in planning, reviewing, designing, and delivering municipal and public infrastructure projects. Working closely with municipal clients, senior leadership, and multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure high‑quality engineering solutions that support community development and long‑term infrastructure needs.

Key responsibilities

• Review site plans, subdivision and land‑development applications, and capital improvement projects for compliance with municipal ordinances and engineering standards.
• Prepare technical review letters, engineering reports, and recommendations for municipal clients and attend planning or zoning board meetings.
• Lead or support design of roadway, drainage, stormwater, utility, and site‑related projects, including plans, specifications, cost estimates, and documentation.
• Perform and review engineering calculations for grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility systems, and roadway design.
• Support construction‑phase services such as submittal review, RFIs, contractor coordination, field observations, and change documentation.
• Conduct quality reviews of engineering documents and coordinate with internal disciplines, contractors, clients, and regulatory agencies.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in municipal engineering, civil/site engineering, land‑development review, or related projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, preferably in New Jersey or ability to obtain it.
• Strong experience in municipal engineering review, infrastructure design, permitting, and construction‑phase coordination.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and related engineering software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with municipal clients, boards, contractors, and agencies.
