About the role
We are seeking a Senior Medical Physicist to join our Radiation Oncology team in Wakefield, RI. The role ensures high‑quality, safe radiation therapy delivery while supporting staff education and compliance with safety standards.
Key responsibilities
- Calibrate dose meters and accelerator monitor units; perform dosimetric inter‑comparisons for QA.
- Acquire beam data and prepare it for treatment planning systems.
- Develop and improve dose measurement protocols, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational radiation‑safety regulations.
- Assist in acceptance testing, commissioning, and re‑commissioning of new or serviced linear accelerators.
- Perform individual treatment planning, dosimetry calculations, and physics reviews.
- Provide physics consultation to radiation oncologists and staff.
- Manage software for the department’s planning system and collaborate with IT.
- Conduct shielding calculations for new facilities and prepare regulatory documentation.
- Lead clinical education, training, and competency assessments for physics and therapy staff.
Required profile
- Advanced degree in Medical Physics or related field.
- Board certification or eligibility in Medical Physics preferred.
- Extensive experience in radiation oncology physics.
- Strong knowledge of radiation safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Proven ability to train and mentor multidisciplinary teams.
