About the role
MD Hyperbaric is expanding its network of clinics that provide physician‑supervised hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). The Staten Island location seeks a full‑time Family Nurse Practitioner to serve as the on‑site clinical leader for every HBOT session, ensuring safe and effective patient care.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct initial patient evaluations to determine HBOT suitability, reviewing health history, vitals, and referring physician notes.
- Supervise all HBOT chamber sessions, maintaining a physical presence throughout each treatment.
- Document each session with signed clinical progress notes and provide supporting letters for insurance approval.
- Communicate patient progress to referring radiation oncologists, ENT specialists, and primary care physicians.
- Monitor patients for adverse effects, respond appropriately, and uphold safety protocols.
- Participate in quality‑assurance activities and help develop clinical protocols as the program grows.
Required profile
- Active New York State Nurse Practitioner license in good standing.
- Board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
- Minimum two years of post‑certification clinical practice (3,600+ hours preferred).
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Completion of a UHMS‑approved 40‑hour Introductory Course in Hyperbaric Medicine (or willingness to complete before treating insured patients).
Required skills
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Hyperbaric chamber operation and safety protocols.
- Clinical documentation and insurance prior‑authorization processes.
