Senior Epidemiologist – NIEHS Literature Review

About the role

Abt Global is seeking a Senior Epidemiologist to lead systematic evidence mapping, literature reviews, and health hazard assessments for a NIEHS‑funded project. Working closely with the Principal Investigator and multidisciplinary experts, you will evaluate and interpret human health evidence to support environmental health and toxicological decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the senior subject‑matter expert for systematic reviews, evidence synthesis, and health hazard assessments.
• Lead evaluation and interpretation of epidemiologic studies linking environmental exposures to adverse health outcomes.
• Design and contribute to systematic evidence maps, scoping reviews, systematic reviews, and evaluation protocols.
• Oversee literature screening, data extraction, study quality assessment, risk‑of‑bias evaluation, and evidence integration.
• Apply epidemiologic principles and evidence‑evaluation frameworks to assess causality, strength of evidence, and public‑health impact.
• Critically evaluate study design, exposure assessment methods, confounding factors, and statistical approaches.
• Collaborate with toxicologists, exposure scientists, and other experts to produce technical reports and peer‑reviewed publications.

Required profile

• Senior‑level epidemiologist with extensive experience in systematic reviews and evidence synthesis.
• Proven ability to assess epidemiologic literature, conduct study quality evaluations, and synthesize scientific evidence.
• Track record of contributing to technical reports and peer‑reviewed publications influencing public‑health or regulatory decisions.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams, preferably with toxicology and exposure science experts.
• Located in or willing to work in the Raleigh‑Durham‑Chapel Hill, NC area.
