Senior Engineering Manager - Android Connectivity

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead a team of Android and embedded software engineers focused on Bluetooth and connectivity management for next‑generation vehicle platforms. You will shape the technical strategy, drive architectural decisions, and ensure delivery of high‑quality, scalable solutions across Rivian and Volkswagen vehicle ecosystems.

Key responsibilities

• Build, mentor and manage a team of Android and embedded SW engineers.
• Define and own the software development strategy for Bluetooth features on Android‑based infotainment platforms.
• Lead integration of Bluetooth functionality within Android framework layers, including device management, recovery, audio and media subsystems.
• Make architectural decisions for connectivity management and its interaction with Android Connectivity, HAL, and Network Manager layers.
• Oversee creation of a custom connectivity HAL to handle switching across distributed ECUs.
• Establish standards for modular, reusable software design and guide developers through complex technical challenges.
• Collaborate with product, UI/UX and platform teams to define features and resolve bottlenecks.
• Promote a culture of engineering excellence, continuous learning and accountability.

Required profile

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer/Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in an engineering management or technical lead role.
• Strong background in Android platform development and embedded software.
• Deep understanding of Bluetooth stack architecture (e.g., Bluedroid).
