Senior Cyber Security Engineer – Microsoft Ecosystem (Remote)

About the role

Sentara is looking for a Senior Cyber Security Engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft technologies to protect its enterprise‑grade infrastructure. This fully remote position will lead the design, implementation, and management of security solutions across Microsoft 365, Azure, Intune, and related platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, recommend, implement and troubleshoot security controls across Microsoft 365, Purview, DSPM, Azure, Intune, Defender suite, Power Platform and Windows Server.
• Review and update security policies using Entra ID, Conditional Access, Purview, and Defender tools.
• Develop and enforce sensitivity labels, encryption, data‑retention and DLP policies across the M365 ecosystem.
• Integrate security tools with CASB, SOAR, SIEM, ServiceNow, CMDB, email gateways and threat‑intel platforms.
• Monitor security logs, support incident response, forensics and threat‑modeling activities.
• Collaborate with compliance teams to meet NIST, ISO 27001, HIPAA requirements and support audit deliverables.
• Lead enterprise‑wide deployment projects and provide technical mentorship to engineering teams.

Required profile

• 5+ years of relevant experience with a degree, or 7+ years without a degree.
• Proven experience securing Microsoft‑based environments at scale.
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001 and HIPAA.
