Senior Counsel – Regulatory (RTP, NC)

About the role

The Global Regulatory Legal group at BASF Agricultural Solutions is seeking a Senior Counsel – Regulatory to provide legal leadership for pesticide and biotech product regulations in the United States and Canada. Reporting to the Head of Global Regulatory Legal, the role supports Regulatory Affairs, Regulatory Science and related functions across North America.

Key responsibilities

• Provide targeted legal advice on authorizations, compliance and enforcement matters for crop protection, seed and trait products.
• Manage FIFRA data compensation and oversee confidentiality, investigations and voluntary disclosures.
• Support the development and maintenance of the Global Regulatory Legal License‑to‑Operate strategy.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external regulators to obtain new product approvals and address operational incidents.
• Represent BASF in litigation, policy discussions and regulatory negotiations.

Required profile

• Law degree and admission to practice in the United States.
• Significant experience in agricultural regulatory law, including pesticides and biotech traits.
• Proven ability to advise senior business leaders on complex regulatory and litigation matters.
• Strong analytical and communication skills with a collaborative mindset.

Required skills

• Expertise in the US Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA).
• Knowledge of Canadian pesticide and biotech regulations.
• Experience with regulatory data compensation and confidentiality claims.
