Senior Complex Case Social Worker

About the role

The Senior Complex Case Social Worker joins the International Rescue Committee’s Safety and Wellness department in Oakland. Integrated into the Intensive Case Management team, this role provides holistic, trauma‑responsive case management for high‑risk families and children in Alameda County.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee implementation of clinical case management for complex newcomer cases with suspected or high risk of child abuse.
• Conduct intake assessments, protective factor surveys, and maintain accurate case documentation.
• Coordinate services with internal departments (Community Integration, Safety & Wellness) and external providers, especially Strong Families Alliance partners.
• Develop and deliver culturally appropriate supports, referrals, and resource networks tailored to client needs.
• Collect, manage, and analyze data to ensure strong documentation and reporting.
• Advocate for client access to quality care, interfacing with institutional accountability offices and supporting navigation of appointments.
• Build and sustain relationships with multidisciplinary service providers to create seamless referral pathways.

Required profile

• Significant experience in case management, child welfare, or child abuse prevention.
• Demonstrated ability to work with culturally diverse and trauma‑impacted populations.
• Strong advocacy skills and experience interfacing with external agencies and accountability offices.
• Proven capacity to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and develop community partnerships.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documentation and client interaction.
