Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

We are a remote‑first startup that enables users to retrieve their personal data from broker platforms. As a Senior Backend Engineer you will work directly with the founders to shape product and technical direction, building and maintaining the core services that power both our consumer dashboard and B2B platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and ship new API features in a Python/Django codebase.
• Maintain and improve Celery‑based background processing pipelines using RabbitMQ and Redis.
• Integrate third‑party services such as Stripe payments and WorkOS SSO.
• Perform performance tuning, including PostgreSQL query optimisation and system reliability work.
• Participate in code reviews and mentor other senior engineers.
• Occasionally implement lightweight frontend components with HTMX or React when it adds value.

Required profile

• 6+ years of experience building production web applications.
• Strong written communication and ability to work asynchronously across time zones.
• Self‑directed, reliable and comfortable taking ownership from conception to production.
